Living the Gospel Beyond Our Walls: Outreach & Missions at Work
At First Presbyterian Church, our Outreach and Missions Teams embody what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world—serving with compassion, acting with purpose, and building meaningful connections in our community and beyond.
Our Outreach Team: Love in Action—Right Here at Home
The Outreach Team leads hands-on ministries that bring care, joy, and dignity to our neighbors. Whether it’s preparing lunches for families in the park, organizing blanket and school supply drives, or showing up for Family Game Nights, Ecumenical Concerts, community movie nights, and local pool days, our team is present and active—meeting people where they are with love and welcome.
We are also deeply committed to addressing food insecurity in our community. Through strong partnerships and generous giving, we:
- Provide monthly food baskets to elderly and shut-in neighbors
- Support local food banks and emergency food needs
- Operate a supplemental food ministry through both the church and the Janeth P. Whiting Community Center
In all these ways, our Outreach Team ensures that our presence in the community reflects Christ’s compassion and hospitality.
Our Missions Team: Extending the Reach of Christ’s Love
The Missions Team directs financial support to vital ministries and humanitarian causes—locally, nationally, and internationally. With wisdom and heart, the team stewards the resources of our church to serve where the need is great and the hope is real.
We proudly support:
- Local food banks and clinics
- Veterans outreach organizations
- Winter coat drives
- Christian media and broadcasting ministries
- Hospice and Palliative Care services
- Gideons International (Bible distribution)
- And the Nicaragua Medical Mission, providing life-saving care abroad
Through these efforts, our Missions Team helps bring healing, hope, and the good news of Jesus Christ to lives we may never meet—but whom we hold in our prayers and support through our gifts.
Together, our Outreach and Missions ministries serve as living testimonies to the gospel—a church not confined to a building, but committed to making Christ known through love, presence, and generous service.

Prom Dress Giveaway
For over 30 years, the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida has hosted an annual Prom Dress Giveaway. Hundreds of dresses in all styles, colors and sizes have been given away over the years. .
This year, we were able to put a smile on over 40 girls’ faces who were able to “Say Yes to the Dress” as well as some accessories.
Schools participating included Oneida, Holy Cross, Stockbridge, VVS, Waterville, Madison, Morrisville, New Life Christian, LEAH Co-op and Home Schooled.
We were also blessed with the help of our Oneida High School Z-Club who did afundraiser for us and collected many beautiful dresses along with accessories. We also had girls from Z-Club that helped at the giveaway. The girls helped return dresses to the racks and assisted with helping the girls try on dresses.
Thank you to our church members who took the time to help with the giveaway. Becky Ewen, Kristin Tooker, Becky Willaims and Michelle Yeoman
If you are interested in helping with next year’s event please contact Michelle Yeoman 315-240-6913
