At the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida, we believe stewardship is more than just financial giving—it is a spiritual practice, a way of life, and a joyful response to God’s abundance. Stewardship is how we honor God with all that we have—our time, our talents, our resources, and our hearts.
Why Stewardship Matters
Everything we have is a gift from God. In gratitude, we are called to care for those gifts wisely and to use them to further God’s kingdom here on earth. Stewardship connects our faith to action. It invites us to live generously, give cheerfully, and serve compassionately.
Through stewardship, we:
- Support ministries that nurture faith in all ages
- Fund missions and outreach that serve our neighbors near and far
- Care for our building and grounds as a place of worship and community
- Sustain staff and programming that equip us for meaningful ministry
Per Capita Giving
Part of our faithful stewardship also includes supporting the broader connectional church. In 2025, the Per Capita contribution is $46 per member. This amount supports the vital ministries and mission of the Presbytery of Utica, the Synod of the Northeast, and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)—ensuring leadership development, pastoral support, new worshiping communities, global mission, and more.
We encourage each member to give their Per Capita in addition to their regular pledge as an expression of commitment to the shared work of the Church at every level.
Ways to Give
There are many ways to practice stewardship at First Presbyterian Church of Oneida:
- Pledges & Offerings: Make a one-time gift or set up recurring donations to support our annual ministry budget.
- Online Giving: Secure, simple, and available 24/7
- Legacy Giving: Include the church in your estate planning to ensure your faith continues to impact future generations.
- Time & Talents: Volunteer in worship, teaching, outreach, care, or hospitality ministries. Your gifts matter.
Stewardship is Discipleship
We don’t give out of obligation—we give out of love. Stewardship is not about funding a budget; it’s about shaping hearts. It’s about trusting in God’s provision and stepping forward in faith, believing that what we give can—and will—be multiplied for God’s glory.
Join Us in the Journey
Each year, we invite members and friends of our church family to prayerfully consider how God is calling them to give. Whether you are pledging for the first time or renewing a longstanding commitment, your generosity fuels the mission and ministry of this church.
We invite you to be part of something greater. Let your giving be a reflection of your gratitude, your hope, and your faith in what God is doing through this community.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”— 2 Corinthians 9:7
